What is Hypnotherapy?

When we decide we’d like to make a change in our life, whether it’s to be more confident, overcome a fear, make more money, quit smoking, lose weight, or anything else to improve our life quality, we decide these things in our conscious mind. However, the conscious mind only makes up about 12% of the mind. The other 88% of the mind is our subconscious, which is where all of the learned associations from our life are stored. We can’t use our conscious mind to think our way into changing these associations, we must make the change in our subconscious mind if we are pursuing a life-long change. Without doing so, we will inevitably repeat the old systems and patterns established by our long-held beliefs, even if we know consciously that these beliefs no longer serve us. This is why so many people who make resolutions to change often quickly fall back into their old, long-established behaviors.

Hypnosis gives us access to the subconscious mind to make new associations for long-term positive change. When in hypnosis, we break through the critical mind’s filter that separates the conscious mind from the subconscious mind. This allows us to create new beliefs in the subconscious that support our goals.

Hypnosis is a gentle process that leads to dramatic change, and can be done in person or remotely, and many clinical trials have been done to show the effectiveness of hypnotherapy. Anyone can be hypnotized by a certified hypnotist who is properly trained in recognizing a person’s suggestibility (how someone learns). This is why it is important to choose a hypnotherapist with credible training and certification from a legitimate organization, such as the American Hypnosis Association. When you make the decision to come see me, you are choosing a hypnotist trained by the first nationally accredited college for hypnotherapy in the country, and can trust that you are in good hands.
